Forging workshop

Our three forging workshops total 32,000 square meters of production area, equipped with extensive manual grinding, dye testing and inspection facilities. We have enough space to store hundreds of customers’ ingots and billets to facilitate fast product turnover, and still have additional space for future expansion.

Forging Experience

Our equipment is specifically designed to cover the widest range of sizes and shapes. All open die forging presses are CNC controlled with the same software to maximize flexibility for the press operator.

Forging product data

Daxun Alloy processes over 2,000 tons of billet and bar annually. We can process your ingots into ingots, blooms, re-rolled slabs, or bars in shapes including round, octagonal, rounded corner square (RCS), square, or rectangular. We also offer stepped forgings, which can contain multiple sizes and/or shapes within a single bar or billet. Specific product dimensions and properties depend on alloy composition, as well as the desired properties, shape, and microstructure.

What is a forging and how does it differ from a casting?

Forgings are parts manufactured through the metal plastic deformation process, usually using a die or press to forge a metal blank at high temperature to obtain the desired shape and mechanical properties. Compared with castings, forgings have denser structure, finer grains, and better mechanical properties, especially higher strength, toughness and fatigue life. Therefore, they are more suitable for critical components that withstand high loads and high impacts.

What are the common forging methods?

There are three main forging methods: open die forging, closed die forging, and ring rolling. Open die forging is suitable for large structural parts and custom parts, while closed die forging is suitable for small to medium-sized batch production parts. Ring rolling is mainly used to produce seamless rings such as bearing rings and gear rings.

What materials can forgings be provided?

Forgings can be made from a variety of metal materials, including** carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, titanium alloy, aluminum alloy, copper alloy, and nickel-based alloys (such as Inconel and Monel).** Different materials are suitable for different industrial needs, such as titanium alloys for aviation and nuclear power; stainless steel for food and chemical industries; and carbon steel for basic mechanical components.

How to determine whether a forging requires a mold? Is the cost of custom molds high?

Whether a die is needed depends on the shape, precision and batch of the forging. Simple or small-scale production parts can be free forged without a die. Large-scale or complex-shaped parts require die forging.

The delivery status of forgings mainly includes the following:

As-Forged: Forgings that have not undergone any machining, having only undergone the forging process and necessary heat treatment.

Rough Machined: Forgings undergo preliminary surface machining to facilitate subsequent finishing.

Finish Machined: Precision-machined to the drawing dimensions, ready for immediate assembly and use.

Heat Treated: Annealing, normalizing, and tempering treatments are performed to improve mechanical properties, depending on the material and intended use.

Nondestructive Testing: Nondestructive testing methods such as UT (Ultrasonic Testing), MT (Magnetic Particle Testing), and PT (Penetrating Testing) are available upon request.
We can also provide additional services such as material certificates, dimensional reports, and third-party testing and certification (such as SGS and BV) upon request.
