Our CP Grade 2 tubes have a density of 4.51 g/cm3, which is 45% lower than ferrous alloys. It is a medium-strength alloy with a typical yield strength of 352 MPa. The alloy has good ductility, formability and welding properties. The addition of iron and oxygen improves strength and formability. CP Grade 2 exhibits similar performance qualities to Grade 1, including excellent corrosion resistance under oxidizing conditions. However, this titanium tube is stronger than Grade 1 titanium tube.

Grade 2 Titanium Tubes are commercially pure titanium with a good balance between strength and ductility. The material has good toughness. It is the most commonly used titanium alloy due to its high strength, weldability and corrosion resistance. Its high ductility and formability make it the alloy of choice for piping systems, heat exchangers, reaction and pressure vessels, and flue gas desulfurization systems. Grade 2 titanium alloys are used in a variety of industries, including chemical processing, petrochemical processing, aerospace and marine.

Advanced Production:Titanium seamless pipe

  • Grade 2 titanium seamless pipes are hot rolled or hot extruded, straightened, processed with inner and outer diameters, and surface etched. The pipes can be supplied in heat-treated or non-heat-treated forms. Daxun has 100% ultrasonic flaw detection capabilities. Hot rolled pipe/hot extruded titanium seamless pipe: outer diameter 1.0mm to 325mm, wall thickness 0.3mm to 50mm, length up to 12000mm. Cold rolled titanium seamless pipe: cold processed pipes are supplied after heat treatment, surface etching, water pressure test or ultrasonic flaw detection according to manufacturing specifications. Outer diameter 6mm to 102mm, wall thickness 0.5mm to 20mm, length up to 9000mm.

Advanced Production: Titanium Welded Tube

Grade 2 Titanium Welded Tube: Diameter ranges from 6.0mm to 1219mm, wall thickness ranges from 0.3mm to 30mm (depending on diameter), lengths up to 25000mm, made from Gr1 titanium tube. Welded tubes are made from flat rolled billets (tube blanks) on electric tube welding machines using automatic tungsten inert gas (argon) welding, and heat treated on the mill line. Mechanical tests, geometric measurements, 100% ultrasonic and eddy current testing, pneumatic or hydrostatic testing are performed before the finished titanium welded tubes are packaged according to customer specifications. Manufacturing technology as well as inspection and testing equipment ensure that thin wall welded tubes meet ASTM B 338 and ASME SB 338 specifications.

Grade 2 titanium tube form (4)

  • Titanium seamless pipe is made by perforating and drawing solid titanium rod, and the hollow part of the pipe is made by perforation or hot extrusion process. Titanium seamless pipe is an ideal choice for very large diameter to wall thickness ratio and has very good external dimension tolerance.

  • Titanium welded pipe is a tubular product made of strip titanium that is roll formed and fusion welded along the longitudinal seam. The welding process used by Daxun Alloy does not use any filler metal during the welding process.

  • Titanium square tubes are drawn from round tubes or round tube billets and can be formed into right angles or rounded corners. They can also be cold extruded, which is efficient and low cost. The only disadvantage is that the tolerance will gradually increase.

  • stainless steel seamless pipe

    Tubular products are welded and then re-drawn to final size. Welding and drawing is ideal for producing thick walled, large diameter tubes that cannot be welded directly to size but still offer cost savings over seamless tubes. All Daxun welded and drawn tubes are bright annealed

Commercially Pure Titanium Tube Grade 2/UNS R50400

Grade 2 Titanium Tube (UNS R50400 / Werkstoff WS 3.7034)

This is the most often used titanium tube for industrial applications, providing a superb balance of moderate strength and reasonable ductility. It offers excellent corrosion resistance in both highly oxidising and slightly reducing conditions (including chlorides). It provides good corrosion protection in the chemical and offshore industries, as well as aircraft manufacture, where strength and ease of forming are required. It’s also utilised in heat exchangers, hypochlorite systems, fire water systems, ballast water systems, industrial and aerospace components, CPI equipment, and pipes.

Fabrication

Titanium Grade 2 responds well to cold forming using standard methods. It can be readily machined, but special attention must be paid to maintaining sharp tools and the liberal use of coolant. As with machining austenitic stainless steels, cuts should be deep and continuous with slow feeds and speeds.

Weight Reduction

CP 2 grade titanium tubes have low density and a high strength-to-weight ratio, making them suitable for applications where weight reduction is required without sacrificing overall strength. They are cold formable, have good ductility, and can be welded using conventional TIG and MIG processes, although inert gas shielding is required to prevent embrittlement of the weld zone.

Crystal Structure

At room temperature, ASTM B338 Grade 2 titanium tube has an alpha (hexagonal close-packed) crystal structure, just like commercially pure titanium grades 1 and 3. At about 885°C [1625°F], it transforms to a beta (body-centered cubic) structure. This transformation temperature can be increased or decreased depending on the type and amount of impurities or alloying additions. The addition of alloying elements also divides the single temperature of the equilibrium transformation into two temperature zones: the alpha transformation zone, below which the alloy is all alpha, and the beta transformation zone, above which the alloy is all beta. Between these two temperatures, both alpha and beta forms exist. Typical alpha and beta transformation temperatures for grade 2 titanium are 890°C (1635°F) and 913°C (1675°F), respectively.

Grade 2 Titanium Seamless Pipe Manufacturing Process

Daxun’s ASTM B338 Grade 2 titanium seamless tubes are made from hollow blanks by hot extrusion process or oblique rolling and piercing process, followed by multiple cold rolling processes. Titanium seamless tubes should have continuous perimeters at all stages of the manufacturing operation. The de novo manufacturing of titanium seamless tubes mainly includes: sponge titanium vacuum arc melting ingot ➡ blanking to get hollow blanks ➡ cleaning ➡ cutting and feeding ➡ hot extrusion, or oblique rolling + piercing ➡ degreasing ➡ drying ➡ cutting ➡ online annealing and straightening ➡ pickling ➡ multiple cold rolling ➡ degreasing ➡ drying ➡ vacuum annealing ➡ straightening ➡ cutting ➡ pickling ➡ final inspection ➡ marking (DAXUN) and packaging.

Grade 2 Titanium Welded Pipe Manufacturing Process

Daxun’s ASTM B338 Grade 2 titanium welded pipe is made of annealed flat-rolled steel plate or steel strip using automatic arc welding (TIG) process. The main production processes include: titanium plate uncoiling ➡ shearing butt welding ➡ cleaning ➡ pipe forming ➡ TIG welding ➡ eddy current testing ➡ pre-sizing ➡ annealing ➡ precision reducing and sizing straightening ➡ eddy current testing ➡ caliper ➡ marking ➡ cutting ➡ ultrasonic testing ➡ hydrostatic testing ➡ final inspection ➡ packaging. Welded pipes should be subjected to at least one stress relief heat treatment after forming and welding. Daxun uses any filler materials during the welding process.

Which grade of titanium is the best?

The grade of titanium alloy you need depends on the project you are working on, as each grade has different benefits.

All grades of titanium alloy are extremely strong and corrosion resistant, which means they will continue to work well in the harshest conditions.

The higher grades of titanium alloy (5-12) are alloys designed for specific benefits. For example, grade 12 titanium alloy has excellent heat resistance, making it a perfect choice for shell and tube heat exchangers, hydraulic piping, and chemical industry equipment.

Grades 1-4 are pure titanium alloys, and they are a perfect choice if you need a weldable, ductile material for piping systems and tubing. You will find lower grades used in the marine and industrial industries.

How are higher grades of titanium different to the lower grades?
