Duplex 2205 stainless steel plate for extreme environments

Daxun offers a large stock of 2205 Duplex Stainless Steel Plates in sizes from 1/16 inch (1.0mm) to 6 inches (152.4mm) thick. The yield strength of this material is about twice as high as that of regular austenitic stainless steels, which means designers can use less material and save on costs compared to using 316L or 317L stainless steel.

2205 Duplex Stainless Steel is made up of 22% chromium, 3% molybdenum, and 5-6% nickel. It is strong and has great resistance to problems like stress corrosion cracking, crevice corrosion, pitting, erosion, and general corrosion, even in tough environments, thanks to its superior corrosion resistance. This type of stainless steel is popular because it combines the best properties of both ferritic and austenitic steels.

Duplex SS 2205 is a very useful type of stainless steel that combines two structures: ferritic and austenitic. PROCESSING

Machining Duplex 2205 is a bit more challenging compared to 300 series austenitic stainless steels. It requires higher cutting forces and tends to wear tools more quickly. Here are some guidelines for machining:
A) Use powerful, rigid machines with strong, stable mounting for both tools and the workpiece.
B) Minimize vibration by keeping the tool extension as short as possible.
C) Use the appropriate cutting tools and speeds to manage wear and maintain quality.
